E-foiling combines cutting-edge electric motor technology with hydrofoil physics to create one of the most unique experiences in watersports. Here's the science behind the sensation.

ELECTRIC HYDROFOIL TECHNOLOGY

An E-Foil is a surfboard equipped with an electric motor and a hydrofoil — a wing-shaped fin mounted on a mast beneath the board. As the motor accelerates, the foil generates lift and raises the board above the water's surface. You glide silently, 1–2 feet above the water, propelled by a handheld wireless remote.

THE SENSATION OF FLYING ABOVE WATER

Riders describe e-foiling as a combination of surfing, snowboarding, and flying. The board hovers above the water with almost no drag, creating a smooth, silent, and surreal glide. You feel the wind, the spray, and a sense of weightlessness that's unlike any other watersport.

A SESSION WORKS

ARRIVE & GEAR UP

Meet your instructor at the Glide Sarasota tent on Longboat Key. You'll get a life vest, a safety briefing, and an introduction to the board and remote. No experience needed — most riders are on the water within 10 minutes.

LEARN ON YOUR KNEES

You'll start kneeling on the board, getting a feel for the throttle and balance. The remote has a gradual speed ramp — you control exactly how fast you go. Most beginners feel comfortable within 15–20 minutes.

STAND UP & GLIDE

When you're ready, your instructor will guide you to standing. The board is wide and stable. As you increase speed, the foil lifts you above the water. That first moment of flight is something you'll never forget.

EXPLORE & HAVE FUN

Once you're flying, the Gulf Coast is yours. Cruise along the shoreline, carve turns, or just soak in the silence. Your instructor stays nearby to coach and cheer you on for the full session.
